2024 That’s a Wrap!

Entries are now closed for this year, and we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our incredible runners for choosing us as their charity. We’re incredibly proud to be this year’s charity partner for the Torbay Half Marathon, and your support is playing a crucial role in raising vital funds for the hospice.

Every step you take makes a difference, enabling us to provide essential care for local families and their loved ones during their most difficult times. It’s truly inspiring to see our community come together for such a meaningful cause, and we’re deeply grateful for your dedication, commitment, and remarkable fundraising efforts.

Take on a different challenge!

Perhaps you’re ready for a different kind of adventure, like a Skydive, Wing Walk, or even the ultimate challenge – a trek up Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, in 2026?

All in support of raising vital funds for the hospice!

We’d love to hear from you if you’re up for the challenge. Please email hayley.townsend@rowcrofthospice.org.uk to get involved.

Your support changes lives

By running for Rowcroft and raising funds for the hospice, you’re helping Rowcroft to care for over 2,500 people living with life-limiting illnesses across South Devon each year. You’re supporting people like Dena who was cared for by Rowcroft’s Hospice at Home service before she passed away in 2019.

In spite of being born with Down’s syndrome and a learning disability, Dena had lived a very full and vibrant life. However in late 2014 she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and developed incredibly complex needs. Rowcroft was able to deliver expert specialist care that helped Dena and her loved ones through the toughest of times at the end of Dena’s life.

“Rowcroft gave us precious time to be just a family with a dying loved one,” said Dena’s sister Karen. “It meant the world to us to be able to sit with Dena knowing her needs were being met and that she could die in her own bed in her own room at home, just as she had wanted. Rowcroft is like a family that embraces you in the darkest times. It wraps its arms around you when you need it most.”

How your fundraising can make a difference

  • £120 could provide a patient with four complementary therapy sessions, such as massage or reflexology, to help promote relaxation and well-being.
  • £265 could pay for overnight care for a patient at home, enabling a family to get a good night’s sleep knowing their loved one is receiving expert care and support.
  • £410 could pay for a patient with complex needs to receive a day’s specialist care and support in our Inpatient Unit.
