Inpatient Unit Reception Volunteer – Evenings

We’re looking for a volunteer evening receptionist on the Inpatient Unit.

You will be volunteering on the Inpatient Unit Reception area meeting and greeting visitors to the Inpatient Unit.

You need to be proactive and assertive, have good interpersonal and communication skills and a genuine interest in people as you may be required to volunteer unsupervised during your volunteering shift. Having a positive outlook, and being non-judgmental is essential as you will be working with people who are unwell and visitors who could be distressed. Confidentiality is upmost, so we ask volunteers to be discreet and reliable.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors in a friendly, professional manner, ensure they are signed in to the visitors’ book, wash their hands and use the hygienic hand gel
  • Check who the visitor has come to see
  • Escort visitors as appropriate
  • Ask visitors to sign out when they leave the hospice this complies with our fire policy
  • Answer the telephone and assist when required by the receptionist
  • Reporting safeguarding concerns and follow Rowcroft’s policies and procedures

If you’d like to volunteer or find out more, please email Myfy or Jackie on reception@rowcrofthospice.org.uk or call 01803 210800.
