Spreading sweetness with their bake sale success
The recruitment specialists at the BIG ANT group have been whisking up funds for the hospice by participating in Rowcroft’s Big Bake! As dedicated Rowcroft supporters who have sponsored and participated in various fundraising events for many years, the colleagues organised a fabulous bake sale in June. Here, Becky Darke, Team Manager at BIG ANT in Paignton, explains how it was a wonderful opportunity for them and their families to get together to bake and enjoy delicious treats, and to raise some dough for a meaningful cause.
Supporting Rowcroft Hospice
“Rowcroft is an incredible place for many reasons, and several of us at BIG ANT have a personal connection to the hospice,” says Becky. “The work Rowcroft does is truly special, providing essential care for those who need it most. We are committed to supporting and raising awareness of the important work the hospice does in any way we can.
“We’ve supported Rowcroft over the years in various personal and business ways. BIG ANT have sponsored The Big Tackle and had teams participate in the event, with some members also volunteering. Some of our employees have participated in and volunteered at The Sleep Walk. Personally, I have taken part in bake sales, charity netball tournaments, and completed the Torbay Half Marathon.”
Baking for a cause
“We decided to do a Big Bake sale and got all the staff involved, encouraging them to bake something. We even invited family members to contribute, creating a fun event to raise funds for Rowcroft. Getting people involved, whether they were avid bakers or trying it for the first time, it was great to see the enjoyment people got out of it and to see members of the public stopping by to support.”
Small acts, big difference
“The best part about supporting Rowcroft is seeing the impact of our efforts. Even the smallest actions can make a big difference. It’s great to be able to help in any way we can.
“I would say to anyone thinking of participating in the Big Bake, to just do it! You don’t need to be an expert baker; it’s just an opportunity to escape our day-to-day workloads and have some fun.
“The staff at Rowcroft do amazing work, they go above and beyond, for the people they care for and their loved ones. Every little bit of fundraising we can do makes an important contribution to the service Rowcroft offers.”
