Sue’s skydiving story
Sue Cooper will be ticking off a bucket list goal on 5 May when she challenges herself to an exhilarating skydive to raise vital funds for Rowcroft Hospice. Sue is embarking on this daring feat in memory of her husband Andrew who was cared for by Rowcroft’s Hospice at Home team. Sponsored adventures like Sue’s skydive help enormously to raise vital funds and awareness for the hospice and we wish Sue the best of luck on the day! Here Sue shares why she’s taking on this adrenalin-filled challenge.
Care and support at a difficult time
“My husband Andrew had pancreatic cancer for several years before he sadly passed away in 2012,” says Sue. “We were supported by Rowcroft’s Hospice at Home team in the last two weeks of his life. The team were excellent; they made it possible for Andrew to stay comfortably at home, and they went over and above to care for him.
“I wanted to do something to raise funds for the hospice to ensure that others can receive the same care and support that we did. That’s why I’m taking on this skydiving challenge.”
Embracing adventure
“I’m not afraid to do a skydive, in fact I’m really excited! While I’ve never skydived before, I did abseil down a building at Exeter University back in 2006 in aid of Victim Support. So, you could say I’m a bit of a daredevil!
“Skydiving has been on my bucket list for some time. If I don’t do it now, I never will!”
Taking the leap to raise funds for Rowcroft
“If you’re thinking about doing a challenge to support Rowcroft, my advice would be to just do it! The team at Rowcroft are so lovely, and you’ll be contributing to a worthy cause.”
