Rowcroft Hospice’s local lottery has reached a major milestone; raising over 5 million in funds since beginning in 2004.
The lottery has been running for over 14 years and has become extremely popular with Rowcroft supporters in South Devon and beyond. It is with thanks to the continuous support from the local community who play the lottery and help to provide an invaluable source of income for the hospice.
Ann Harrington is a reception volunteer on the Inpatient Unit and has been playing the Rowcroft lottery for over eight years. “It’s a small amount to give and you know where the money is going and you can see how it is being spent. I have also had two wins which feels very gratifying!”
All funds raised help to make every day the best day possible for patients living with life-limiting illnesses. The £5,000,000 raised over the past 14 years has funded the care for over 1,130 Rowcroft Inpatients. This would not have been possible without the kindness and generosity of the Rowcroft Lottery players.
Julie Fletcher, Lottery Co-ordinator, said: “It is thanks to the regular support from the community of South Devon that have made this possible. It’s an incredible achievement and we are all so proud of the success.”
“We would like to thank everyone who takes part, week after week. Your support is extremely valuable to our hospice.
Taking part in Rowcroft’s lottery is a great way to help support the hospice who provide specialist care to patients living with life limiting illnesses and their families across South Devon.
One winner of Rowcroft’s lottery, said: “I was thrilled to receive the cheque for £1,000. My husband was admitted to the hospice five years ago… the kindness and gentleness received still stays with me.”
Players can sign up to the Lottery for only £1 per week and will be entered into a prize draw with the chance to wine one of 33 prizes given every week between £10 to £1000.
