Recognition of a significant impact

The Third Sector Awards celebrate outstanding achievements within the charity and not-for-profit sectors, acknowledging organisations and teams that make a significant impact within their communities. Rowcroft’s recognition underscores its commitment to delivering specialist, tailored end-of-life care and support, guided by professionalism, empathy and respect. Other shortlisted charities for the award include national organisations such as The Red Cross and MIND, highlighting the significant impact of Rowcroft’s work alongside prominent UK charities.

“We’re thrilled and honoured to be shortlisted for this award,” says Vicky Bartlett, Director of Patient Care at Rowcroft Hospice. “This achievement is testament to the hard work, expertise and compassion of our team members who every day provide specialist care, comfort and dignity to local people who are facing the toughest of times.

“Our multidisciplinary team offers a wide range of support, including specialist nursing and medical support, physiotherapy, spiritual care, complementary therapy, occupational therapy, social work, music therapy, and listening and bereavement support. These diverse specialisms enable us to address the holistic needs of our patients, ensuring comprehensive care for both them and their loved ones.”

A challenging time for UK hospices

This moment of recognition comes at a challenging time for hospices nationwide, as funding issues are threatening the sustainability of hospice care across the UK. The financial pressure – due to many factors including rising costs, a national drop in charitable giving, and a rising demand for end-of-life care services – underscores the critical need for community support and funding to ensure the continuation of vital services.

“As we celebrate this prestigious shortlisting, we also face the stark reality of a national funding shortfall for UK hospices,” added Vicky Bartlett. “This award highlights the importance of Rowcroft’s work, and we hope it brings attention to the urgent need for increased funding and support for hospices.”
