An event for all
“We’re absolutely delighted that the Torbay Half Marathon & 10k is returning for 2025, and we’re honoured to be chosen as the official charity partner,” said Rowcroft’s Challenges Fundraiser, Hayley Townsend.
“This much-loved local event not only brings our community together but also raises vital funds for incredible causes – and we’re so proud to be a part of it.
“For Rowcroft’s runners, this event is not just about crossing the finish line; it’s about helping to provide crucial comfort and care to local patients with life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones. Every step taken brings us closer to our goal of ensuring that no one faces end of life alone. We’d love you to run for Rowcroft – so please do sign up and help make a difference.
“Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or a first-time runner, the day is a celebration of running for all abilities – an opportunity to unite as a community, raise awareness, and fund the care that matters most. When you sign up, you’ll receive a free fundraising pack with top tips to boost your sponsorship, and we’ll be with you every step of the way, cheering you on!”

Your support changes lives
By running for Rowcroft and raising funds for the hospice, you’re helping Rowcroft to care for over 2,500 people living with life-limiting illnesses across South Devon each year.
You’re supporting people like Dena who was cared for by Rowcroft’s Hospice at Home service before she passed away in 2019.
In spite of being born with Down’s syndrome and a learning disability, Dena had lived a very full and vibrant life. However in late 2014 she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and developed incredibly complex needs. Rowcroft was able to deliver expert specialist care that helped Dena and her loved ones through the toughest of times at the end of Dena’s life.
“Rowcroft gave us precious time to be just a family with a dying loved one,” said Dena’s sister Karen. “It meant the world to us to be able to sit with Dena knowing her needs were being met and that she could die in her own bed in her own room at home, just as she had wanted. Rowcroft is like a family that embraces you in the darkest times. It wraps its arms around you when you need it most.”
How your fundraising can make a difference
- £25 could provide essential comfort items for patients in the Inpatient Unit, such as toiletries, blankets, or books, enhancing their experience during their stay.
- £100 could pay for a week’s fuel, enabling one of our Hospice at Home nurses to travel far and wide across South Devon, visiting patients at home to provide care and support in their last two weeks of life.
- £202 could fund one hour of care for all the patients in our Inpatient Unit, bringing comfort and support to people in their final days.
