Following the government announcement on Monday 14 June 2021, we would like to reassure our supporters that this year’s Sleep Walk event is still able to go ahead physically on Saturday 3 July 2021.

To ensure the safety of everyone at the event and to maximise social distancing, some adaptations have been made to this year’s physical event. The event has two start and finish points – one at Paignton Green and one at Torre Abbey Meadows. This year’s route is a five-mile loop, and we have staggered start times every 30 minutes from 5pm to 7pm. The event is completely outdoors with one-way systems in place and we’re paperless to reduce contact points. There will be plenty of hand sanitiser available and hand washing stations next to the toilets – we’ll be regularly cleaning contact points too.

Participants are required to follow social distancing guidelines and will be required to wear a face mask (unless exempt) when checking in to the start point, and when collecting any refreshments or their medal at the finish point, or at any other times when they are within two meters of other participants or Rowcroft staff or volunteers. Face masks will not be required for the event warm up or while walking along the event route.

While we’re doing everything we can to make the physical event as safe as possible, we recognise that many participants enjoyed the option to take part virtually so the ‘Your Way’ option to take part in The Sleep Walk from Saturday 3rd July to Sunday 11th July, at a time and place to suit you remains for 2021!

We hope you can be a part of this year’s superhero themed event and help us to celebrate the many acts of kindness and heroism we’ve seen over the past year. Registrations are open until midnight on Sunday 27 June 2021. Sign up today!

Step forward in superhero style to join Rowcroft’s Sleep Walk!

Step out and sign up to our fabulous all-female Sleep Walk event on Saturday 3 July.

With this year’s theme of superheroes, the event promises more fun and laughter than ever as you take on the valiant conquest of a sponsored walk, unleashing your superhuman fundraising powers in raising much-needed funds for the hospice!

With Sleep Walkers setting off in waves throughout the day, your superhero mission is to undertake a five- or ten-mile circular walk, starting and finishing at either Paignton Green or Torre Abbey Meadows in Torquay.

To add to the frivolity, you’ll receive a free superhero cape to wear on the day, and we invite you to accessorise this with a fun mask or headband, or with a t-shirt from our Sleep Walk shop!

It’s about having lots of laughs with friends and family, getting some exercise and fresh air by the seaside, and raising vital money for a really worthwhile cause.

If you prefer, you can opt for our ‘virtual’ Sleep Walk – this is where you take part in The Sleep Walk independently in your own way, by creating a route of your choice (of any length) and walking at a time that suits you between Saturday 3 July and Sunday 11 July.

So don’t delay – book your place now!

To take part in The Sleep Walk, there’s a £15 sign-up fee for girls under 16, or £20 for over 16s. The virtual event costs just £5.

Money raised from this year’s Sleep Walk will help fund Rowcroft’s Hospice at Home service that provides expert care, support and compassion to local patients at home in their last two weeks of life.
