🏉 Kick-off special
Sign up before 30 November 2024 and you can bag bargain tickets at just £14 per adult and £8 per child, and get a FREE t-shirt!
Prices increase after this date, so don’t miss out on the best deal. All we ask is that you raise or donate a minimum of £20 to support the hospice.
Score big for your community
While your entry fee helps Rowcroft to cover the costs of putting on the event, it’s the money raised through sponsorship money that really makes a difference in helping us to care for our community.
Every pound you raise goes to support the hospice in caring for 2,500 patients and their loved ones annually across South Devon. Here are a few examples of how the money you raise can make a difference:
£8 – could provide breakfast, lunch and dinner for a patient in our Inpatient Unit, ensuring they receive nutritious home-cooked meals during their stay.
£27 – could provide an hour of care from a nurse to a patient at home, offering tailored specialist support to them and their loved ones through the toughest of times.
£90 – could offer crucial support to someone experiencing bereavement, so they’re not alone on their journey of grief.
Last year’s Big Tackle brought together 700 participants who raised over £95,000 for the hospice. This year, we’re hoping to raise even more. Bring it on!
Scott and Eva’s story
Father and daughter duo, Jon and Eva Scott from Paignton, took part in The Big Tackle in March 2024 in memory of Jon’s late grandmother, June, who was cared for in Rowcroft’s Inpatient Unit before she passed away seven years ago. Jon and Eva say they can’t recommend the event highly enough.
“The Rowcroft team did such an amazing job for my nan; they were so caring and they made sure she was comfortable and peaceful to the end,” said Jon. “She was able to look out on the beautiful gardens, which she loved.
“As a charity, Rowcroft means so much to me; it’s one of the charities that I really love to support, especially because it’s local. It was great to see the amazing community spirit of so many people joining The Big Tackle and raising money for the hospice; even if they only raised a small amount, it all adds up and makes a big difference.
“I know that the hospice needs our support because as a charity it’s mainly funded by the local community. It was wonderful to see so many people turn out to support the hospice on the walk. Even in the rain people turned out in force to support Rowcroft!
“Nanny June was looking down at Eva and I know she will be so proud of her.”
“It was a fun day out and I really enjoyed The Big Tackle walk,” said eight-year-old Eva. “The best thing was that some of the volunteers gave out treats like crisps and lollypops!”
