The Rowcroft Fire & LEGO® Walks 🔥🧱
Get fired up for our Fire and LEGO® Walks – we dare you!
Are you ready to walk on fire for your local hospice? Join us on Saturday 12 October in the grounds of Rowcroft Hospice where we dare anyone over the age of 12 to take on the epic feat of walking barefoot over red hot embers in the thrilling Fire Walk! Younger children can show their bravery too by conquering the colourful LEGO® Walk. These exciting challenges, run by Firewalk Events, empower you to discover and channel your inner strength and conquer your fears.
The aim of this unforgettable day is to bring families and friends together in support of the hospice: raising essential funds through sponsorship to care for patients and their loved ones across South Devon. The day will also include a performance of ‘fire eating’ by Higher Beings Circus, games for all the family, a bouncy castle, as well as a BBQ and refreshments.
Mind over matter 😅
Are up to the challenge?
The challenges are run by Firewalk Events, and you’ll receive full training on harnessing the power of your mind. This will enable you to put ‘mind over matter’ and walk barefoot over the scorching embers which, at around 400°C, are four times hotter than a boiling kettle!
“These unique challenges offer adrenaline-filled fun for people of all ages,” said Holly Traynor, Rowcroft’s Events and Projects Fundraiser. “It’s a chance to confront your fears, test the power of your mind and body with something extraordinary, have a laugh with family and friends, and most importantly, support a cause that’s close to home. Plus, who wouldn’t want to say they’ve walked on fire or conquered the LEGO® gauntlet?!”
The LEGO® Walk will see the younger ones navigating an exciting path of vibrant bricks, first with socks on, then with socks off. Both challenges can be performed multiple times; it’s up to you how many times you do it!

By fundraising for Rowcroft, you’ll be helping us to provide specialist support to over 2,500 patients and their loved ones annually, caring for people across 300 square miles of South Devon, from Dartmouth to Dawlish and up onto Dartmoor.
How your fundraising makes a difference
- £51 could provide three hours of care to a patient with complex needs in Rowcroft’s Inpatient Unit.
- £112 could provide four complementary therapy sessions to a patient or their loved one, helping to relieve anxiety, stress and tension.
- £265 could pay for overnight patient care at home, enabling a family to get a good night’s sleep knowing their loved one is receiving expert care and support.
“Rowcroft is like a family that embraces you in the darkest times. It wraps its arms around you when you need it most.”
– Words from a patient’s sister.
Ruth's Story 💜
Learn about the support Rowcroft provided to Ruth and her husband David…
Ruth Archer from Brixham received support from Rowcroft during the hardest days imaginable after her husband David was diagnosed with life-limiting pancreatic cancer in February 2022.
“Rowcroft’s nurses were with us whenever we needed them, ensuring he was safe and pain-free,” says Ruth. “I will be forever grateful that we were able to bring him home where he passed away peacefully.
“Sadly, nearly everyone at some point in their life will experience the trauma of life-limiting illness, either directly or as a loved one, and the crucial services and the support that Rowcroft offers shine a light in the overwhelming darkness.”
Our Sponsor
We’d like to say a massive thank you to our fabulous sponsor, Majestic Holidays, for supporting The Rowcroft Fire and LEGO® Walks.
“Majestic Holidays are delighted to be the sponsor of Rowcroft’s brand new event ‘The Rowcroft Fire and Lego Walks’. We know other hospices have seen real success with this event across the country and we can’t wait to see the event in the beautiful grounds at Rowcroft. Looking forward to helping Rowcroft care for more patients and their families in our community.”
