A fantastic amount raised
Rowcroft Hospice’s Open Gardens programme has once again blossomed into a splendid success, raising a fantastic £8,056 this spring and summer to support local people with life-limiting illnesses. Building on the momentum of previous years, the 2024 Open Gardens programme ran from March to September featuring a diverse selection of glorious gardens across South Devon, with residents and visitors alike treated to a spectacular array of unique and beautiful green sanctuaries, while supporting a vital cause.
Sponsored by Majestic Tours, the Open Gardens line-up included gardens of all shapes, sizes and styles, with features such as beautiful borders, ponds and other water features, orchards, woodlands, veg and fruit patches, walled gardens, wildflower meadows, bogs and beehives. From the charming cottage-style gardens of Olchard near Kingsteignton to the beautifully designed landscapes in Galmpton, each garden showcased a unique reflection of its owner’s vision and hard work.

“We’re so incredibly grateful to our generous gardeners who not only opened their beautiful, private gardens for all to enjoy, but who also put so much effort, dedication and care into making each space so special,” said Hayley Townsend, Fundraiser at Rowcroft Hospice. “The funds generated will go directly to caring for patients and their loved ones in our community during some of life’s most challenging moments.”

The hospice is now seeking gardeners who would like to participate in the Open Gardens programme for 2025.

Rowcroft needs you now, more than ever
As a charity, Rowcroft is playing a key role in delivering vital end-of-life care to 2,500 patients and their loved ones across South Devon each year, but the hospice is facing increasing financial pressures – due to many factors including rising costs, a national drop in charitable giving, low and stagnating government funding and a growing demand for end-of-life care. These challenges underscore the critical need for community support and funding to ensure the continuation of important services.
