Win big in Rowcroft’s 40th anniversary lottery superdraw!

Lottery prizes are bigger than ever

With this year marking Rowcroft Hospice’s 40th anniversary, prizes in our lottery are now bigger and better than ever with the chance to win £1000 every Friday, plus 21 other prizes including a twice-yearly superdraw prize of up to £4000! Every penny of profit from Rowcroft’s lottery goes to support people with life-limiting illness across South Devon, helping patients to make every day the best day possible.

A lottery with a difference

For as little as £1 per week, you can play Rowcroft’s lottery to support a local charity that cares for local people,” said Julie Fletcher, Rowcroft’s Lottery Coordinator. “Rowcroft’s dedicated nurses and care teams work around the clock in our community, providing crucial care, support, compassion and comfort to patients and families who are facing the hardest times imaginable. Each year we care for more than 2000 patients, with the majority cared for in their own homes or care homes. A small proportion of patients receive specialist care in our Inpatient Unit in Torquay.

How Shirley won our lottery!

Shirley Spencer, 77, of Brixham is a regular lottery player who was thrilled to win a thousand pounds in Rowcroft’s lottery last year. She said:

I first got to know Rowcroft when my friend was referred to the hospice for care, and I used to go to visit her. It was so calming and pleasant there, and the care that my friend received was brilliant. I got to hear about the Rowcroft lottery and I decided to join so that I could support this wonderful local charity.

As I have non-hodgkins lymphoma, I’m classed as a vulnerable person, so I’ve been shielding all the way through the pandemic. The pandemic made life so difficult for my husband and I, especially not being able to see all the family, so it was such a boost for us to hear that I’d won a thousand pounds in Rowcroft’s lottery!

How the hospice cares for local people

Di Feasby’s husband Steve was cared for by the hospice before he passed away in Rowcroft’s Inpatient Unit. She said:

I thought Rowcroft was just a place people went to die. But I was very, very wrong – because Rowcroft taught us how to live again, how to love, how to enjoy making the most out of each day. The love and compassion we were shown in the Inpatient Unit was overwhelming. All the staff had such a lovely manner; they genuinely cared. The level of respect they have for their patients is beyond words.

Supporting the hospice

With each lottery entry costing just £1, last year’s lottery raised an incredible £595,000 for the hospice, providing vital care and support for local families. Over the course of a year, a single lottery entry per week will fund home-cooked meals for a patient in Rowcroft’s Inpatient Unit for seven days; two entries per week will pay for three music therapy sessions for patients and their families, to help ease anxiety, stress and tension; and three entries per week will keep Rowcroft’s Hospice at Home nurses on the road for four days, supporting patients at home across South Devon.

A special time to join our lottery

Please join Rowcroft’s lottery for our special 40th anniversary year, and help us to celebrate the amazing service that our devoted nurses and care teams have provided to tens of thousands of people in our community over four decades,” said Julie Fletcher, Rowcroft’s Lottery Coordinator. “Your kind and generous support in playing our lottery really makes such a difference. Don’t forget you can also buy lottery entries as a truly unique and special birthday present for friends or family.
