Our nurses need YOU
You may have heard that hospices across the UK are struggling with financial challenges.
For Rowcroft, as a charity we’re grappling with rising costs, low and stagnating government funding, a drop in charitable donations, and a growing demand for end-of-life care.
Our loyal community has always been there for us, and we’re incredibly grateful for your unwavering support. But now, as we face these financial challenges, we need your help again.
Will you sponsor a nurse through a regular monthly gift?
Your gift today will help our nurses and clinical teams to continue to care for our local South Devon community – so that your friends, family and neighbours can receive the care and support they need, when they need it.
Will you sponsor our nurses to be there tomorrow?
“I became a palliative care nurse to make a difference,” says Lesley, one of Rowcroft’s Inpatient Unit nurses.
“End-of-life care deserves as much compassion and value as the beginning of life. It’s more than a job; it’s a commitment to making a positive impact to the patients and families we care for.”
Rowcroft’s expert nurses and clinical teams work tirelessly around the clock to provide specialist care to patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families through the hardest times imaginable. Their compassion, dedication, professionalism and kindness knows no bounds, brightening the lives of thousands of local patients and their loved ones each year.

Help to keep our nurses caring
How you can support Rowcroft…
If you sponsor a nurse through a regular monthly gift, you will help our nurses continue to do what they do best: delivering vital care with love, passion and the greatest of skill to patients and their loved ones during their most vulnerable moments.
Where does my monthly gift go?
Your donation could help fund:
- a home visit from a Community Nurse Specialist – assessing a new patient’s symptoms and helping them plan for the future
- a day’s support from a nurse in our Inpatient Unit – helping patients and their loved ones to make every day the best day possible
- overnight care from a nurse supporting a patient at home – offering comfort, easing pain and providing emotional support
- support from a specialist ‘nurse prescriber’, who can prescribe timely medications out-of-hours to ensure that patients’ needs are met whenever they arise.
Kate and Paul’s story
The impact of Rowcroft’s care is deeply felt by local families like Kate’s.
Her late-husband Paul Holmes – who is also a former Torquay United football star – received specialist care at home from Rowcroft’s Community Team before entering Rowcroft’s Inpatient Unit where he passed away.
“Rowcroft’s nurses and care teams were amazing,” said Kate. “The care was tailored to all of our needs. They had time to reassure, to alleviate fears, to explain, and they created a bond with us straight away. Their care enabled us a family to continue to make memories with Paul, to feel safe, feel secure, feel loved, and feel cared for. We will be forever grateful.”
