Relocation support for registered nurses

For a career with real meaning, join Rowcroft Hospice. We provide a wide range of specialist palliative care services for people with progressive life-limiting illnesses, and their families, in South Devon.

At Rowcroft, we understand that relocating to a new area comes with lots of additional challenges (aside from starting a new job). That’s why we are proactive about offering relocation support for registered nurses.

If you are a registered nurse, we can provide relocation support of up to £6,000 if you relocate to Torquay to work in our Inpatient Unit (IPU).

If that sounds interesting, please read on for more information.

Registered nurse relocation package

  • Up to £6,000 to support your relocation to Devon (pro rata for part time employees).
  • Available to anyone currently living more than 100 miles from Rowcroft Hospice who incurs costs associated with relocation.
  • Support can used for associated costs such as removal costs, landlord or solicitors’ fees, rent or mortgage payments.
  • Costs can be reclaimed with supporting invoices at any point up to six months from your first day of employment.
  • Costs are not payable where any recruitment agency fees have been incurred.
  • Should you leave Rowcroft’s employment within three years, we may reclaim repayments on a sliding scale.
  • This incentive will run until the IPU has recruited its full nursing complement.

If you’re passionate about making a difference to the lives of patients and families, and all the above sounds appealing, then we’d love to hear from you.

A word from one of our team...

Jo, Registered Nurse, Inpatient Unit

It truly is a privilege to work in end-of-life care. To make every patient’s last days the most comfortable and the very best they can be. To support and care for not only the patients but their families. And to leave [at the end of my shift] knowing I’ve nursed and cared for my patients just as I always thought nursing would be, amongst a friendly and lovely team, means everything to me.”

"A dream job in a dream location"

How Rowcroft’s Director of Care and Strategy Dr Gill Horne relocated to Devon

I had always wanted to be a director of patient care or consultant nurse in palliative care, so when the advert came out for a director of patient care at Rowcroft Hospice I looked at it with great interest. My husband and I had many holidays in the South West as kids and with our own family, and we dreamed that one day, perhaps when we retired, we might be able to live by the sea; never imagining that we might be able to live by the sea whilst still working!

“Having looked at the job description and deciding I really wanted to apply for the post we sat down as a family (my son was twelve at the time) to ‘count the cost.’  There would be a new school to find for our son, new work to find for my husband and of course the need to sell our family home and buy another one.

“Knowing that there was a relocation package to support us to move to Devon made the decision on the financial costs of moving not a burden or risk to me or my family in applying and taking the post. Rowcroft offered advice on best schools in the area and places to live.

“I have been so happy here these past 13 years at Rowcroft and my husband and I still pinch ourselves sometimes that I have had my dream job (having recently started in a new role – still here at Rowcroft) and we’re in our dream location.
