What our customers say
“I’ve recently used this service. Robert and his team cleared my late mum’s house in Dawlish. Very efficient, friendly and courteous and I would thoroughly recommend them. What’s more, I received a phone call the following day to inform me that they found an envelope containing cash in an item of furniture that my mum had ‘hidden’. Lovely to know that integrity and honesty are still alive and well! A totally brilliant and exemplary service.”
– Baz, Bovey Tracey

Where does everything from my house clearance go? +
Any good quality, saleable items will be sold in Rowcroft’s South Devon shops or online to raise vital funds for the hospice. Any non-saleable items will be recycled where possible; the remainder will go to landfill.
What type of items can be sold in Rowcroft’s shops? +

Why does Rowcroft need to charge for the house clearance service? +
We need to charge for our house clearance service to cover the costs of running the service. These costs include fees for recycling or disposing of unsaleable items, fuel, post-clearance cleaning, transportation, administration and labour.
Please note that other charities operating similar house clearance services also charge for their service, for the same reasons.
How much does the house clearance service cost? +
Each house clearance job is priced on an individual basis, determined by the size and complexity of the property and the types, quality and volume of items being cleared.
Do you offer a free furniture collection service? +
Yes, we also offer a furniture collection service, where you can have up to six items of saleable furniture collected from your home for FREE.
Please call our Furniture Collection Line on 01803 210832 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10am to 3pm.
What does the basic, post-clearance clean include? +
As part of our house clearance service, we carry out a quick, post-clearance clean where key surfaces are wiped down, and floors are mopped or hoovered. We don’t clean windows, walls, doors, cupboards or patios etc.
Should I pack anything before the house clearance date? +
No, please do not pack anything (if you have not already done so) as we will need to separate and sort items for recycling and sale. We can pack everything ourselves including clothing, drawer contents, cupboards and even the food from the kitchen.
Do you guarantee to clear the whole property? +
Yes! The only items we are not licensed to dispose of are soil, chemicals, gas bottles and rubble.
Will you clear garden items too? +
Yes, we can include garden items in our quote too.
How quickly can the clearance take place? +
We aim to schedule your clearance as soon as possible, depending on availability. Timings can vary depending on the size and complexity of the job, but we’ll always keep you informed and work around your schedule where we can.
Do I need to be present during the clearance? +
Not necessarily – many customers choose to give us access in advance. As long as we can access the property safely and securely, you don’t need to be there on the day.
Is there anything I need to do before the clearance? +
Please ensure we have clear access to the property and that any necessary permissions (for flats, gated properties, etc.) are arranged in advance. Please also let us know about any mobility or safety issues at the property so we can plan accordingly.
