Experience, insight and a shared commitment to care
We’re delighted to welcome John Moore to Rowcroft Hospice as a new member of our Board of Trustees. John brings with him a wealth of experience across health, social care, business and the charity sector, alongside a strong personal belief in the importance of compassionate, holistic care.
John’s varied career across sectors
“I originally trained as a Chartered Engineer and worked in international manufacturing businesses,” said John. “I left corporate life in my mid-30s to grow and sell a small firm, then qualified as a Chartered Director to support trustee and non-executive roles in health, education and community charities. I’ve since been involved in several entrepreneurial ventures – the most enjoyable was establishing and growing an unrushed, personalised domiciliary care service, with the aim of bringing joy to 500 families in five years.”
Working for the wider good
“Driven by a desire to work for the wider good, I spent nine years as a non-executive director on the board of a large acute hospital trust in Bristol. I’ve also served a number of charities supporting older people, including Bristol Dementia Action Alliance, Bristol Benevolent Institute and We Care Home Improvements.”
Using experience to make a meaningful impact
“After a serious accident, I experienced first-hand the value of great clinical and emotional care, which gave me a real appreciation of holistic care. Rowcroft is a wonderful organisation that makes a massive difference to individuals and families, and I’m keen to use my personal, trustee and entrepreneurial experience to support its goals.”
Supporting Rowcroft
“As a trustee, my role is to encourage and support the executive directors, bringing fresh eyes and ears to situations. I will draw on my varied experience to help Rowcroft achieve its goals. I’m comfortable working at both a strategic level and in the detail – I also hope my experience of tech, IT change, business growth and my love of networking will be useful.”
When John’s not working
“Outside of my working life, I enjoy kayaking, snowboarding, sailing, nature conservation, history, politics and international affairs. My perfect weekend would be spent kayaking on the Lower Dart with my family.”
A shared sense of purpose
“It’s an honour to work alongside people strengthening Rowcroft’s culture, reach, impact and independence. Rowcroft’s clear purpose and shared culture really stand out in helping to ‘make every day the best it can be’.”
