Why Rowcroft is leaving X/Twitter
After carefully reviewing how our social media platforms, we’ve decided to stop actively using X/Twitter. Over the past year, we’ve seen several negative changes across the platform and an increase in the number of dubious accounts engaging with our content.
Disappointingly, X/Twitter has become increasingly misaligned with Rowcroft’s values, with misinformation and hate speech becoming more commonplace. Therefore, we’ve made the decision to step away from the platform, with immediate effect.
Many other charities and institutions are also leaving X/Twitter
Rowcroft Hospice is not alone in making this decision – many other organisations including The Guardian, hospital trusts, police forces plus other charities, have stepped away from X/Twitter for similar reasons. This doesn’t mean our X/Twitter profile is disappearing – it’ll stay live as a record of what we’ve shared in the past and it will signpost our supporters to our other social media platforms. However, we will no longer be posting content or responding to comments and direct messages.
Where else can you follow Rowcroft Hospice on social media?
Rowcroft currently posts and shares content to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Platforms like these are doing a much better job at helping us to connect with you, our supporters, and local community. As a result, we will concentrate our efforts on increasing activity on platforms that are more closely aligned with Rowcroft’s values.
