Our commitment to EDI
At Rowcroft Hospice, we believe that everyone deserves access to equitable and compassionate care, regardless of their background or circumstances.
We are committed to ensuring our hospice reflects the diversity of our community and provides care that is tailored to our patients’ unique identities, circumstances, and needs. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where all staff and volunteers feel valued, respected, and empowered to thrive in their roles.
Our EDI Vision
Rowcroft’s aim is to make every day the best day possible for patients and those closest to them living with life-limiting illnesses in South Devon. Central to this mission is our commitment to being accessible, inclusive, and welcoming. We strive to provide specialist palliative care for everyone in our diverse community. Whether as a trusted care provider, a hub of palliative care knowledge, a supporter of our community, or an employer, we are dedicated to creating an environment where everyone feels valued and respected.
Our EDI strategy
Inclusive care
We provide care that respects cultural, religious, and personal preferences, ensuring that all patients and families feel seen and heard.
Our core priorities:
- Expanding our care beyond cancer: We are committed to offering specialist palliative care for a wide range of conditions, not just cancer. This includes supporting those with illnesses that are often overlooked, ensuring everyone in need receives the expert care they deserve.
- Specialised care for frailty and dementia: We are dedicated to providing personalised care plans that respect the unique needs and dignity of the elderly and those living with dementia.
- Embracing racial and cultural diversity: Providing culturally competent care that respects and celebrates the rich diversity of racialised communities.
- Inclusive care for the LGBTQ+ community: We strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment for LGBTQ+ individuals, celebrating their identities and addressing their care needs with respect.
- Caring for people with learning disabilities: Adapting our services to be accessible and effective for individuals with learning disabilities, ensuring they receive compassionate care tailored to their needs.
- Supporting the homeless: We’re here to support those facing homelessness, addressing their unique challenges, and providing them with the necessary care and support.
- Care for prisoners: Offering compassionate palliative care to prisoners, recognising their right to humane and dignified treatment.
Diverse workforce and volunteers
We are committed to attracting and supporting a diverse workforce, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive at Rowcroft. We are dedicated to creating a workplace culture where everyone feels welcomed and respected.
