Push your boundaries and conquer the Great Wall of China for Rowcroft Hospice

Rowcroft Hospice launches Great Wall of China trek for 2027

Rowcroft Hospice is inviting adventure-seekers to take on the challenge of a lifetime by trekking 35km along the iconic Great Wall of China, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

Taking place from 14-22 October 2027, this unforgettable nine-day adventure offers the chance to step back through centuries of history while raising vital funds to support Rowcroft’s specialist end-of-life care for people across South Devon.

The Great Wall of China trekTrek through history on one of the world’s greatest landmarks

Over five trekking days, participants will journey through beautiful valleys and across remote mountain ridges, passing ancient watchtowers and historic battlements along one of the world’s most remarkable landmarks. Guided by experts from Global Adventures, trekkers will explore quieter sections of the Wall far from the usual tourist routes, where the sense of scale and history truly come to life. The challenge will include steep climbs, thousands of stone steps, and the extraordinary ascent of the ‘Heavenly Ladder’ at Mutianyu.

After completing the trek, the team will have the opportunity to explore the vibrant city of Beijing, visiting famous landmarks, including the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven and Tiananmen Square, before celebrating their incredible achievement together at a special group dinner.

Supporting local families with every step

Molly Billingsley, Challenges Fundraiser at Rowcroft Hospice, said:

“Whether you’re an experienced adventurer or taking on a challenge for the first time, this fully supported trek offers an amazing opportunity to push yourself while making a real difference for local families. Every step taken will help us continue providing compassionate end-of-life care for people across South Devon. We’ll be with you every step of the way, supporting you to make the most of this unforgettable adventure.”
