As the coronavirus crisis tightens its grip on the UK and South Devon, I would like to take this opportunity to reach out to you and your loved ones, to reassure you that Rowcroft Hospice is continuing to support those most vulnerable in our community. I’d like you to know that we are doing everything we possibly can – day and night, seven days a week – to continue caring for patients and their families living with life-limiting illnesses, and to make every day the best day possible.
I am so proud of how all our staff and volunteers are pulling together during these difficult times: our patients and their wellbeing remain our utmost priority. We are working hard to keep everyone safe, by taking extra precautionary measures as our experts advise. Our care continues in our Inpatient Unit in Torquay and in patients’ own homes – where we care for the majority of our patients. We are continuing to ensure we protect our patients, families and our staff from exposure to the coronavirus; and we are monitoring the situation closely as it unfolds and responding appropriately.
I am keenly aware that there are challenging times ahead. As the coronavirus takes its toll, the demand for our already-stretched services is set to increase. As a charity, we rely heavily on the generosity and support of our wonderful local community – who fund the overwhelming majority of our care. Yet, sadly, in light of the current situation, many of our planned fundraising events and activities cannot go ahead over the coming months. Please do keep an eye on our website as we update you in due course on our plans.
In what could seem like a helpless situation, we are trying to stay strong and keep positive. We can and will continue to make a difference to the vulnerable people who need us.
For us at Rowcroft, it means the world to know that we have the support of our community behind us. We know that many of you are looking for ways to help and so please do continue to support in any way you can during these challenging times.
We know our community needs us more than ever and we are there for you.
Wishing you and your families the very best of health.
