You will be volunteering on Rowcroft Hospice’s wards providing a complementary service which will help to improve the patient and visitor experience and contribute to their therapy.
About the role:
- Provide music that adds to the ambience of the hospice environment and that supports the holistic care of patients and their families.
- Respond to their needs by playing requested music where possible.
- Sit and chat with patients as appropriate
- Create a social atmosphere
You will need to be proactive and assertive, possess good interpersonal and communication skills and a genuine interest in people as you will be volunteering on your own. Having a positive outlook and being non-judgemental is essential as you will be working with people who are unwell. Confidentiality is utmost, so we ask volunteers to be part of the team and be discreet and reliable.
You will need to complete an application form, 2 references followed up and a DBS will have to be submitted on your behalf.
Day and time by mutual arrangement within the times below:
Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Morning 11.00 – 12.00, afternoons 14.45 – 15.45 or evenings 17.30 – 18.30
